Reflections - 2020 - An American Renaissance?

One of my Facebook friends wrote yesterday, “I was doing a Crossword yesterday, Judith, & above the Crossword it said:- Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President, should on no account be allowed to do the job !!! Very Unique, but true xxx.”

Here is what I wrote back: “A bit too cynical for me. We have in fact had some great presidents. I’m thinking Joe Biden could be one of them if he is able to assemble an administration that does in fact
#BuildBackBetter. As a general rule, it is very very hard times when we have seen our great presidents emerge: Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt after the great depression.”

So that’s what I’m thinking today. This may very well be a time of great change for the better, a time for an
#AmericanRenaissance as we fix what this trauma has revealed that is broken that needs to be healed and put in place the things that we need to meet the challenges of the future, among them climate change.

Reflections - 2020 - One of Many Reasons Why I Love the U.S.A.

PictureSally Yates
After watching Sally Yates testifying a few days ago about how she warned the Trump administration that General Michael Flynn was compromised by the Russians, and an interview with Louis Lukins by Rachel Maddow on how he warned an ambassador to Britain that asking the British to transfer the British Open to Donald Trump‘s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland would be improper and probably illegal in spite of the fact that President Donald Trump had asked him to do it, I am just thinking again how proud I am of this nation, the United States of America.

No doubt it's not perfect. No human enterprise ever is or ever will be. But watching the testimony of so many professional civil servants, like those who testified at the impeachment hearing, and then Sally Yates and Louis Lukins...

PictureAlexander Vindman
... it’s encouraging to recognize that most people are in fact not corrupt. They are citizens who have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution, and like Lieutenant Colonel Vindman who testified at the impeachment hearing and was fired for doing this duty, they do their jobs quite well. My friends and others who claim that the USA is the Great Satan are so very wrong. We urgently need to get back to putting people in place who are honorable.
